Student Travel Resumes

Alison Abbott has been an employee of GeoBlue since 2004. In her time here she has been a member of our Provider Relations team, our Global Health and Safety team and the Scholastic Account Management team. In her current position, Alison is the manager of the Scholastic Account Team. We asked Alison to provide an update on the return to study abroad travel.

“As we all know, the international education system had an almost complete shut down in 2020. Luckily, student and leisure travel are poised to make a strong recovery in the fourth quarter of 2021. Our largest study abroad clients are estimating that fourth quarter 2021 enrollments will be 50%-75% of their fourth quarter 2019 numbers. Many of these enrollments are semester- or year-long enrollments.

Almost all universities report that they are requiring any study abroad student to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to leaving the U.S. Clients also report that short-term trips, 3 weeks or less in duration, may return as early as January 2022.”

Staff Spotlight: Valentina Viana

Valentina Viana started at GeoBlue in September 2019 working in Customer Service. In July 2021, she decided to dedicate her time to servicing our contracted provider community and joined the Provider Finance team.

Valentina was born and raised in Venezuela. She graduated from Jose Antonio Paez University with a marketing degree. Due to the social, economic and political problems in Venezuela, she decided to start her journey as an immigrant, all by herself. She has over 5 years of customer service experience, both in the restaurant and insurance industry. In her free time, Valentina enjoys running, hiking, nature and listening to podcasts.

Provider Spotlight: Dr. Simon Gordon

GeoBlue recently welcomed Dr. Simon Gordon to our provider community. Dr. Gordon is a General Practitioner based in Valbonne, France. He is also serving as a Regional Physician Advisor (RPA), lending us his medical expertise for Southern France. Dr. Gordon received his medical degree from the University of Glasgow and received a diploma in Family Medicine from the University of Tel Aviv. He is registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) in the UK.

Dr. Gordon has an interest in telemedicine and offers telehealth consults throughout all of France. In his free time, Dr. Gordon enjoys running, snowboarding, looking after his children and relaxing in the French Riviera. He is fluent in English, French and Hebrew.
